Gingham fairy princess: shorts edition

image I had a bit of a sewing binge this weekend. I ended up sewing a skirts,  a dress (both of which you will see in the coming days)  and these shorts.

I've had this fabric in my sewing box for ages. I think my mum might have bought it for me about 4 or 5 years ago when I was experimenting with sewing.

I've actively been making an effort to try and use up all of the material which I've been hoarding (because I obviously don't have enough clothes :p ha ha).

Unfortunately, I didn't use all of the green gingham for this project. It takes about 3/4 of a meter of material to make high waisted shorts, and I have about 2 meters of material left over.

Maybe I'll try my hand at making some sort of shirt...

It's a Floral Kind of day.

I absolutely love this dress, but unfortunately its not a great dress to play flute in (which I do a lot) It's made from cotton, and doesn't have much breathing room. Tuesday is my main teaching day, meaning breathing is required. Didn't stop me from wearing it anyway.

Market madness

I participated in the Davistown markets today. It was a long, but great day.

My friend Ashley let me tack onto her stall

It was a pretty quiet day, and I didn't sell many pieces (I sold two pieces. Of those my mum bought one (I don't think it really counts if your mum buys it)) but it was ultimately a good experience. It's given me the motivation to revive the etsy store I started (I'll post a link once I get this up and running!)

Anyway, enough about markets! This is what I wore today.

I figured because it was a 'seaside' market that I'd go with something 'sea'  themed.

All in all it was a good day!

Pleated apples

I had a pretty lazy day today. It was nice. I've been so busy for so long, it was weird being able to relax without feeling guilty.

Anyway, this is what I wore today!

I bought this skirt from danger field about 3 year ago, but never wore it because I was going through a very heavily lolita clothing inspired thing with the way I dressed, and literally wore a petticoat under everything (basically, if I couldn't wear a petticoat under the dress/skirt it wouldn't get worn)

Anyway, after years of this skirt sitting there being amazing, I finally decided to wear it!

A Tangle of Tentacles

wpid-img_20141016_191132.jpg After yesterdays outfit which was pretty to look at, but not warm enough for the freak icy weather we were having, I decided to dress warmly.

I may or may not have overestimated the amount of 'warm clothes' I needed for todays weather. :(

At least I looked cute?

I had another reason for wearing this outfit apart from wanting to stay warm, and that was to style the new choker I made.

This is the aforementioned choker, which is just a tangle of tentacles. I decided to go with a 'cool toned' colour pallet because I wanted to mimic the texture and blending of water colour paints (These are the most common colours in my watercolour painting, which is why I found them easiest to use!) It also means it will go with most of my favourite outfits, which all happen to be green/blue/purple.
