One of my flute students asked me today why I dye my hair.

I told them I dye my hair because I like it this way. I'm not lying, but I'm not telling the whole truth.

The whole truth is that my awful ex freaked out when I dyed my hair without his permission. Dying my hair makes me feel like I'm in control of my appearance.

It's a huge deal to feel fully in control of your body and life after missing it for a while, and hopefully it's something I'll never take for granted. The only person who should control you and the choices you make (no matter how little or big) is you.

So yeah, those are the very brief thoughts I have on the matter. Do you have any experience with claiming body autonomy? I'd be interested to hear it!
(I'm going to leave you with several more pretty pictures! I had such a fun time frollicking in the leaves)

Before this post ends, I'm trying to grow my mailing list (because I do much more than this blog and sharing all the things individually is getting a little out of hand!) You can sight up HERE
