Today has been equally parts good and bad, leading to me being 100% exhausted, so instead of trying to string some words together, I'll just leave you with the photo's I took of the skirt I finished sewing last night! (This one's slightly different to all my other skirts as it has a scalloped waist band!)
I wore this outfit on Tuesday. I've been feeling pretty grouchy lately because of the general ignorance of the general population, so to counteract my mood I turned into a glitter bomb (complete with squirrel cardigan)
I've not been sewing lately (mostly because of being involved in Pirates of Penzance) , and it's really starting to get to me. Because of my job I live a highly creative lifestyle, which is fabulous, but to stay engaged and lively I feel the need to create things that aren't music in order to a) not burn out musically and b) be more than my music.
I love music so much, but I don't want it to be the only thing I'm good at, nor the thing that fully defines me. Sewing helps me to feel more like me and less like a slave to my instrument.
Anyway it's the last weekend of Pirates, which will be fun! As much as I've enjoyed my time in the pit, I'm looking forward to having some semblance of free time.
An open letter to the Australian East Coast Summer:
what is up with you man? Are you having some kind of identity crisis at the moment. A few days ago you were super hot. The sun was shining, the birds were singing and everyone was roasting. Now you're cold, wet and distant. You've been like this all season, hot and cold, then hot then cold.
I miss the old you. The old you was hot without being humid, it was beach weather every day. The old you was the epitome of "summer fun". Now you're drab, dank and dreary. I hope we can return to our old agreement soon. I can't keep up with your mood swings,
Something I never really used to care about before blogging was the state of the weather. I mean, I cared as far as wanting to stay warm and dry, but I never felt completely limited by bad weather. Now if it rains it's a bit of a disaster because a) the light turns to bleargh, and b) my equipment is not waterproof.
I tried to channel my inner peppermint candy in todays outfit. I'm not a huge fan of the taste of peppermint, but I love the candy appearance, and the smell (so fresh yo!) These bright colours also cheered me up. If you've been around for a while, drab weather makes me feel sad and lethargic because it zaps the warmth and colour out of the day.
I must apologise for my lackluster written content over the past few days. I've not been doing much, and the stuff I am doing is rather boring to talk about (I'm sure you lot wouldn't appreciate me going into great detail about registering the car...)
So yeah, today I registered the car and played some video games (Portal 2 and Mario kart 4 lyfe).
This is what I wore yesterday. After dressing so casually lately, I decided that I wanted to class it up. My mum bought me a bunch of these short knitted cardigans, which makes being classy in summer super simple.
Because of the cleaning, I almost wasn't going to post today, but then I went out for burritos. When its holidays I find I have to look for excuses to get dressed because I turn into a bit of a hermit!
The gig my band played on new years eve went swimmingly. We played a great set (and had a special guest in our lineup!) and generally had a ball. Nick (the clarinetist in my band) and I also got to have a bit of a jam with the headline band The Main Guy and the Other Guys, which was super fun.
