I have some exciting music related news! I bought a bass flute :D

head

"What is a Bass Flute?" I hear you ask. To begin with, it looks like this:  12341410_10154389455134606_5918383108227072722_n

It plays a 3 octave range from the C below middle C, to the C two ledger lines above the treble stave (making it sit exactly an octave below the regular C flute we all know and love) The Bass flute I purchased is made by Trevor James, and it's so freaking  pretty.

Hands in front

I just wish I could play it properly. It's flute shaped, and the embouchure looks similar, and your fingering remains the same, but it's a whole new kettle of fish. I've only just worked out how to hold it properly :s

More details

Air support is very different as well, as it the use of the embouchure. It's really odd being terrible at playing a flute. But it's really fun learning a related instrument.

to the side

This is what I wore yesterday when I had some jammy fun times with a friend of mine. It was really hot, so I opted for airy, light clothes which helped to keep me relatively cool.

Hand on hip

I made these skorts over a year ago, and I've not worn them at all this year. I actually forgot how awesome they are to wear. I've got to make some changes to the pattern before I can sew a new set (Totally going to make them in full leg length as well!).

details

They're basically two half circles with extra bits... Gah, I'll just have to stop being lazy and make a tutorial...

wpid-c360_2015-01-04-18-25-03-536.jpg The one thing I love the most about Summer is how long the days are. I tend to be a bit of a night owl, so the longer the sun stays out the better.

I haven't always felt this way about Summer daylight hours. I can remember when I was 6 feeling annoyed that I had to be put to bed when the sun was still out because when the sun is out it's still day, and daytime is for play, not for sleep (my bedtime was 6:00 back then).

Over the last week or so I've noticed the sun setting a little earlier than it has been. I always have felt sad about this change in daylight hours. I do not enjoy winter. I find it cold and bitter. I hate the cold, I hate the rain, and I hate the dreary grey clouds. When the sky is chock full of drab, grey clouds, the world looses brightness and colour. The sun setting earlier is a very obvious and small reminder that winter is coming. (I know it's technically not coming for like 6 months, but, last year the temperature change/ overcast days came prematurely)

It also means I'm overestimating how long I can leave shooting my outfit, causing terrible lighting situations (Sorry!)

It looks like black bubble wrap

I have a double shoe shot today to show off the socks I wore on Monday. Cat's in bowties are the cutest ever!

The title of this post is in reference to the cropped jacket I wore Monday. Basically I asked Ro Dogz what he thought of it, and apparently it looks like black bubble wrap. The jacket in question is a recent purchase from the best shop in Woy Woy (aka shop 55)

I'm finally on uni 'break' (which isn't really a break. It's uni 'you don't the have to attend class but there's still a butload of work to do') I have a pretty major flute exam coming up so I'm taking advantage of my ' free time' to practice like a maniac. I actually can't wait till its over.

Such. Fun.

wpid-20140911_131328.jpg Thursdays outfit made me feel like a school girl.

wpid-20140911_131300.jpg

I think it was a combination of the colour pallet, the jacket and shoe combination and long socks. I think it's strange that something that looks nothing like a school uniform can make me feel this way.

Also, all the school uniforms that I ever wore never made me feel this adorable.

Apart from my outfit, thursday was kind of a bleh day. I managed to loose my breakfast to the train floor, which left me hangry during my art class (we were presenting some artworks for progress marking. I was pretty happy with the art I presented, but the stuff I said about the works were not too great) , then in the afternoon the train was running half an hour late, which meant calling into work late.

It wasn't all bad though. I got to have lunch with the Tim who is the bassist in my band, and Honae his wonderful and brilliant girlfriend :3. The train being late meant I was able to catch up with my friend Adam, which was lovely.

Oh well, shitty days are significantly less shitty when there's lace on your skirt.

Pinocchio and Squirrels

image On Sunday my boyfriend and I managed to find some time to go for a walk along the local cycle path. While we were on our little adventure, I decided to turn him into a camera fairy.

This is what I wore Sunday. It's such a comfy outfit (and so much fun to wear!)

Anyway, I don't really have much to say. Fashion be fun Yo.
